Mark Shepherd

Mark D. Shepherd, MD

Dr. Shepherd received his BS degree in 1982 at Oral Roberts University, heading to Emory Medical School, where he graduated in 1986. An Internal Medicine/Pediatrics residence at Vanderbilt was followed by his Endocrine fellowship at Wilford Hall Medical Center (Airforce) in 1993. As a life-long athlete, Dr. Shepherd is frequently seen astride his bicycle on a backroad in NE Mississippi. He finds joy and peace commuting to and from work daily on two wheels.  

Married for (almost) 40 years, Dr. Shepherd and Jennifer have three children, five grandchildren and love taking them on outdoor adventures. If Dr. S is not playing outside, he will likely be found with his nose in a book (like The Phenomenon of Man, by Pierre Teilhard de Chardin) or listening to good rock ‘n roll music. 

He finds his humanity is anchored in his conscious awareness of an intrinsic connection with everyone and everything. It is this heart-felt posture that fuels his deep care for his patients.
